In 2006, two long-time lung cancer survivors, the late Rich Kaufman and the late Geri Norris, started the first walk in Boston with the support of a small group of family, friends, and volunteers also touched by lung cancer, Since then, this grassroots movement has successfully drawn thousands of participants and raised over USD 2 million for lung cancer research, as well as support resources and advocacy for those affected by lung cancer.
All walk proceeds have been for the benefit of LUNGevity Foundation, and we in the BREATHE DEEP BOSTON community are proud that Boston institutions, their physicians and scientists, are so well represented in the foundation's history of investment in research projects across the country.
