This event is organized by a group of individuals who have all been touched by lung cancer. We are individuals who have lost loved ones to this disease. We are the children of the survivors, and we are the families of our lost warriors. We are the caretakers, the husbands and the wives who stand united fighting lung cancer. Anyone who has been touched by lung cancer knows there is much more research to be done to eventually make this a chronic disease vs a death sentence.
Our mission is to provide experience, strength, hope, and knowledge to others and to push for the cure by raising money so more research can be provided. We work hard to demystify the myth that lung cancer is a smoker's disease. If you have lungs, you can get lung cancer. Period!
Originally named Breathe Deep Pompano Beach, this event was started by Frank and Lori Wannop in 2011, and continues today in Boca Raton as Breathe Deep Boca Raton. The committee has now grown to include Stuart Cohen, Heather Hollaway-Wilson, and Jordan and Lisa Meyerson. Jordan was diagnosed with stage IV metastatic lung cancer in 2016 and because of breakthrough medications, incredible doctors, family support, and a spiritual foundation, he is continuing to keep a positive attitude and is able to help others upon their first diagnosis. His incredibly positive attitude has been infectious to those around him.
Breathe Deep Boca Raton 2018 will raise critically needed funds for lung cancer research through a 5K walk and a fun run at Burt Aronson South County Regional Park in Boca Raton, Florida. Please join us for a morning of celebration, tributes to those lost, and honoring the survivors.
